if you didn’t get the memo the last 2 times I posted this — i’m taking submissions for the Saturday|STYLE; segment I do here on my blog.
i would love to showcase your personal style or even a couple looks that you admire or put together yourself using pieces you grab from the internet, etc.
All I ask is that you fill out the information below and include it when you submit your photo(s). If it’s not complete I won’t post it.

Saturday|STYLESWEAT; “Too Le[fit] to Quit.”
I’ve been doing some serious training this week. Just going and going ALL the time. If I’m not at work, I’m working out and if I’m not working out I’m either refueling or recharging.
This is what I wear almost every day to the letter.
Today is no different.
Saturday|STYLE; “All buttoned up”
Life just got real. It’s all business from here.

Saturday|STYLE; “Laying Low”
I’ve been flying under the radar lately and this look just said everything about the way I’ve been feeling. it’s comfy and a little grungy yet clean. Not too in your face but still interesting and funky.
Been doing a lot of sorting intrinsically. Things are happening so fast and I just need some time to absorb it all.
I need
that top, those pants, the whole outfit — now.
»» Saturday|STYLE; “The blood, the people, the land.”
Felt like sharing what I wore in the house today. Might not be too stylish but it’s comfy! =)
Headgear - Red scarf
Bottom - Black drop-crotch/harem pant
Top - Green cut-off/midriff cable knit tank
Saturday|STYLE; Necklace earrings
I know these have been around for a while but I made my self a pair this past summer and almost wore ‘em tonight for the surprise birthday I threw for my mom. They’re a great way to salvage a broken necklace or wear a bold statement piece with out putting on too much jewelry.
Saturday|STYLE; Working Woman.
Welp! I just got another job and some of it is actually involved in the degree I went to school for so I’m pretty elated. There’s a lot of pressure to do well but I’m hanging in there. I’m just grateful to be bringing in some income again.
But I digress…
- MetroStyle Harem Pant- I’m currently in love with drop-crotch pants. Metrostyle offers a pair in business format that I’m thinking about ordering.
- Camel-colored Oxfords- I own about 8 different pairs of oxfords. I’ve been wearing them since before it was considered “cool.” I love them because they can go from day to night, work to play and lax to dressed up without a problem. I also have a bit of a tomboy streak. This keeps my feet planted firmly on the ground. No charlie-horses in the middle of the night from heels. Glor-reh!!!
- Ralph Lauren Button-up- I think mint green looks beautiful against chocolate skin. Reminds me of ice-cream and crisp sheets. [sigh]
- Kermit the Frog Metal Lunch Box- Kermy has always been one of my favorite muppets… One of the most frenquently worn tees I own features him with a pair big ass headphones on. Y’all know he be jammin’ right? Figured it’d be nice to give him a spot in this photoset considering his new movie coming out and all — well, that and the fact that I pack my lunch.
- Warby Parker Willoughby Frames in Tennessee Whiskey-This is the pair I’ve chosen to purchase from Warby Parker [see the “Clothing with a cause” segment I did for Saturday Style a while back for more information]
- Camel-colored button-up cardigan-The office where I work is FREEZING — I swear the A/C unit is on crack — so I’ve gotta stay warm. After all, I am anemic.
- Red Watch - Can’t go wrong with a pop of [complimentary] color! I keep my eye on the clock for lunch… My tummy is always rumbling in the office. Its kind of embarrassing. Oh well. They’ll have to deal with it.
enjoy,

Saturday|STYLE; A Night at the Theatre.
This is basically the outfit I wore to see “What my Husband Doesn’t Know” by David Tolbert, in Miami today sans a few details. Simple but pretty slick with the right hair and attitude. The weather was bleak but seeing Michelle Williams and Morris Chesnut live and in living color made up for it.

Saturday|STYLE; Clothing with a cause [revisited]
I’ve done a clothing with a cause segment for Saturday Style before but I thought that this company was too cool to not acknowledge.
Verde Styles has vowed to plant a tree for every t-shirt they sell. Currently 4,516 trees have been planted.
The store offers other items such as bracelets, bands and necklaces, but the tree-planting tugs at my heart-strings.
Free time on your hands? Mosey on over.

Saturday|STYLE; Feeling Chill-lay.
Autumn has finally made its way to South Florida and the sun still shines brightly despite the crisp breeze. Here’s my take on a happy medium between keeping warm and staying cool. These are some pieces similar to things I have in my own closet and others I wish to have.

Saturday|STYLE; Clothing with a cause.
So I’m pretty big on philanthropies. I don’t know all the names of the big fancy ones or who’s behind which ones but I guess I’m more concerned with the organics of it. What does it do? Who does it help? How?
Another passion of mine is fashion. Clothing is expression. Expression is self. Your truest self is free.
Merge those two ideas and you’ve got clothing with a cause.
Check out some companies who’ve got the right strategy guaranteed to help millions.
Tom’s Footwear: With their “One for One” program, Tom’s donates one pair to a child in need in developing countries for every one pair that is purchased.
“A leading cause of disease in developing countries is soil-transmitted diseases, which can penetrate the skin through bare feet. Wearing shoes can help prevent these diseases, and the long-term physical and cognitive harm they cause.” via: Tom’s Footwear
Warby Parker Eyewear: Not only do you get to test drive 5 pairs of designer frames [of your choice] for 5 days for the freeski but each pair that is sold means that someone else will get a pair too.
“1 billion people don’t have access to glasses which means that 15% of the world’s population is unable to effectively learn or work because they can’t see clearly.” via: WP Eyewear
Kayobi Clothing: This company doesn’t do a buy one give one program but, I assure you, buying a product from Kayobi will do your mind some good. This company is dedicated to educating the masses about, “the African story and that of the Diaspora through positive, vibrant and thought provoking imagery.”
Saturday|STYLE; ‘The Happy Medium’
Lately I’ve been extremely busy. I haven’t been able to dress like myself all the time. I’m more-so concerned about just getting the job done and my attire hasn’t really reflected who I am because I don’t have the time to pay attention to my clothing anymore. I just want to be comfy, thats it. Who says comfy means frumpy though?
It’s all about balance right?,
